Joachim Goedhart is writing a fantastic set of shiny packages building on the tidyverse/ggplot, to do interactive plotting of data on the web. They strike me as a bridge between GUIs and R users: https://huygens.science.uva.nl/
For example, ggPlotteR - coding a plot line by line teaches how to build a call to ggplot using a gui, and can copy the code. Including on data that the user has uploaded.
Joachim has been enthusing about these on twitter, @joachimgoedhart.
Maybe of interest for the ROpenSci community?
Best,
Edward
