Automated JOSS review following rOpenSci acceptance?

Hello everyone, I am very happy to have had my package accepted by rOpenSci this week (Importing and Analyzing Twitter Data Collected with Twitter Archiving Google Sheets • tidytags). When I submitted the package for review (admittedly, ages ago), I checked off the option for " “Do you wish to automatically submit to the Journal of Open Source Software?”

I also found this old thread from @noamross in the forums from 2016:
http://ropensci.discourse.group/t/harmonizing-ro-onboarding-with-joss/398

So, I just wanted to clarify, will tidytags head to JOSS automatically at this point, or do I need to now manually submit the paper with JOSS? I asked @maelle in an email, and she thought @karthik might know the latest.

Thank you all in advance for your help!

Hi @bretsw
Thanks for the questions. It wont head there automatically. You’ll have to submit via their short form, but mention in the comments that it has been reviewed by rOpenSci and post a link to the thread. The paper will undergo review but the software review will transfer over. That’s still the status quo.

Right now there is no automation to make that transfer step for you but we’ll revisit the roadmap and see if we can make that happen.

Ok, thank you so much @karthik for getting back to me so quickly! I really appreciate it. I’ll head over to JOSS now…

Thanks again!
