In this post the authors tell the story of how the rcites package development began at an ecology R package hackathon in Belgium that was co-organized by 2017 rOpenSci Fellow, Nick Golding, and Methods in Ecology and Evolution.
rcites interacts with the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) Speciesplus database and the authors share an example to find the African bush elephant’s native distribution.
